Employee Fatally Shot in Gem Store Holdup

An employee at a Burbank jewelry store was fatally shot Thursday when he tried to foil a robbery, police said.
The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was shot about 4:30 p.m. at Creme de La Gem in the 3300 block of West Magnolia Boulevard, Sgt. Joe Latta said. He was transported by paramedics to St. Joseph Medical Center where he later died, Latta said.
At least two gunmen were believed to have entered the jewelry store and escaped on foot after the shooting, Latta said.
