The rain wasn’t purple, but Prince decided it was too much anyway. The rock star bowed out of his British tour last week after cancellation of the first date--an outdoor London concert--because of bad weather. As arrangements were being made to return ticket money to thousands of disappointed fans for the opening-night show, a record company spokesman announced that Prince decided to pull out of the entire tour--even though concerts planned for Birmingham next month were scheduled to be held indoors. Efforts to move the London concerts to an indoor site failed, so “it was easier for the whole British tour to be canceled after the London dates fell through,” a spokesman said.
