Quaker State Oil Refining Corp. said the Dec. 31 closing of its Ohio Valley Refinery at St. Marys, W. Va., plus two other closings and a writedown of assets will result in a $122-million second-quarter loss on pretax income and a loss for the year. The 5,000-barrel-a-day plant, which opened in 1913, is Quaker’s smallest and oldest. It has 160 employees. Quaker also said that it will close down shallow oil production in its Titusville, Pa., and Bradford, Pa., operations and will write down production assets to their estimated current net realizable value.
