A program of free swimming instruction for boys and girls, aged 6 to 17, began Monday at 95 Los Angeles city, county and YMCA swimming pools.
The $150,000 Summer Swim ‘87, which will culminate in an all-city, all-county youngsters swimming meet Aug. 29, is being financed by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, the group responsible for distributing the Southern California share of the 1984 Summer Olympics surplus.
Youngsters are being admitted on a first-come basis. This summer is the second for the expanded program.
