The Akron, Ohio-based company, which is restructuring to recoup from a hostile takeover bid, said it received a buyout offer from the subsidiary’s management. Gencorp spokesman Rip Tilden declined to provide details of the proposal. He said the company expects to receive additional offers for the tire business from other suitors. Tilden said a public offering of stock in the tire unit also is a possibility. General Tire was put up for sale to help Gencorp recover from a $2.2-billion takeover battle earlier this year.
