THE VENICE SUMMIT : Networks to Air Reagan Appearances
NEW YORK — President Reagan’s speech in West Berlin will be carried live by all the major networks live at 5 a.m. PDT Friday, network officials said.
ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN will also carry Reagan’s news conference in Venice, Italy, this morning, also at 5 a.m. PDT.
White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said in Venice that Reagan will address the nation from the Oval Office next Monday night but that the time of the speech has not yet been determined.
Fitzwater said the subject of the Monday night address will be the economic summit and a North Atlantic Treaty Organization foreign ministers’ meeting in Iceland this week that is expected to produce a consensus on a Soviet-American plan for dismantling hundreds of nuclear missiles in Europe and Asia.
