A week after Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker made a public appeal on ABC’s “Nightline” for people to let them know whether they should return to the PTL ministry, their Palm Springs home has been deluged with mail, most of it positive, a family spokesman said. Don Hardister, Jim Bakker’s bodyguard of 11 years, said “people are sending money in every kind of way you can imagine--checks, cash, money orders. We are looking at a sea of mail in this house right now.” He declined to say how much money has been sent, or how the family intends to use it.
