The Philippine Supreme Court rejected fraud charges by two opposition groups in the May 11 congressional elections. The ruling was the second defeat for former Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile’s Grand Alliance for Democracy. The court rejected an earlier claim of fraud, and the alliance appeal of that ruling was in turn denied. The court turned down a similar petition by the New Society Movement of ousted President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
