Nipper, the dog listening to “his master’s voice,†has been called home to RCA Records to resume his job as the company’s logo after being sent away in the early 1970s, according to the record company’s new owner, Bertelsmann. RCA Records was recently sold by General Electric to the German firm, which decided to bring back Nipper and another logo dropped by the label about 25 years ago that showed an electrified RCA in a circle. Billboard magazine noted that RCA unceremoniously announced Nipper’s discarding in the early 1970s with a two-page ad showing the famous mutt languishing in a trash can.
