A Burbank man pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell 15 pounds of military explosives, blasting caps, silencers and PCP out of the trunk of a car parked at Taft High School in Woodland Hills. Donald F. Ewald, 40, admitted to masterminding a scheme to sell the explosives that are powerful enough to kill anyone within 50 feet of the car, to bail a former business partner out of jail, Assistant U.S. Atty. David Katz said. The two men who actually met with undercover agents at the school parking lot, John Sargent of Reseda and Edward Pajak of Tujunga, have already entered guilty pleas in the case. U.S. District Judge A. Wallace Tashima set sentencing for July 31. Ewald faces a possible 15 years in prison for the explosives counts and an additional 20 years for a separate charge of distributing cocaine.
