SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL PLAYOFFS : Goodcase Leads Whittier Christian

Mike Goodcase was 4 for 5--including two home runs--with three runs scored and six RBIs as Whittier Christian romped to a 17-5 victory over Gladstone in the Southern Section 1-A playoffs at Anaheim’s La Palma Park.

Goodcase’s homer raised his total to nine this season.

Whittier held a 5-2 lead after two innings and then erupted for 10 runs in the third.

Daryl Lancaster (13-1) relieved Shannon Wright after two innings to pick up the win for Whittier Christian (20-5). Art Velasquez was charged with the loss for Gladstone (22-5-1).
