Intellectual Life in L.A.
I recall comments heard in New York 25 years ago, soon after I had graduated from college. I was about to follow my husband to Los Angeles, the so-called abyss of trivia and gauche glitter. “Poor dear, too bad it isn’t at least San Francisco.†I am grateful to see that the highbrows are still quizzing visitors about the desolate intellectual life in Los Angeles. Our freeways are already overburdened.
