‘Seed Corn for Education’
I would like to think that the average California taxpayer is intelligent enough to relinquish a $42 tax rebate so that an additional $700 million could be allocated to education, toxics control, and the battle against AIDS.
Gov. Deukmejian is obviously more concerned with his political image than the real-life issues at stake. I find the governor’s proposal hypocritical at best. After all, wasn’t it Deukmejian who was going to make education his top priority?
Perhaps it is time for the governor to visit some of our schools to see firsthand how the taxpayers’ money could be best spent.
Yes, Governor, we are asking you for more, more, more. Because we need, need, need it.
