Turtle Bounces Off Man’s Head: He’s Bruised; It’s Badly Injured
HONG KONG — A man walking to work was beaned by a falling turtle, according to news reports Friday.
A freshwater turtle weighing more than two pounds struck 36-year-old Lui Wai-kwong on the head, bruising Lui’s temple and badly injuring the turtle, the accounts said. The tortoise apparently plummeted from a high-rise residential building in this British colony’s Wong Tai Sin district.
“I thought I was going to faint. . . . I had to lean against the wall,†Lui was quoted as saying by the English-language Hong Kong Standard. “I was surprised to find that it was a turtle. So were other passers-by.â€
Lui was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a checkup, the Standard reported.
It was not clear if the turtle fell or was thrown out a window.
