Lomita to Reduce Lanes on Eshelman
LOMITA — The City Council has unanimously approved a recommendation by the Traffic Commission that Eshelman Avenue, a two-way, four-lane street, be re-striped, making it a two-way, two-lane street with turn lanes. The posted speed will be 25 m.p.h. The council acted after two children were killed in pedestrian accidents on the street, which is in a residential area.
City traffic adviser Pat Ashburn recommended against the re-striping. “I don’t think it’s necessary,†Ashburn said. “I don’t think it will reduce speeding or accidents.â€
