County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley, 74, was reported in good condition at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital Tuesday after urinary tract surgery.
Pam Bolen, the hospital’s spokeswoman, said the 40-minute surgery is “a routine operation to correct the benign enlargement of the prostate.”
“He’s in real fine condition, doing real well. His prognosis is good,” she said.
Teri Rodriguez, one of Riley’s executive assistants, said she spoke with Riley by telephone Tuesday morning and again Tuesday afternoon: “He was propped up in bed and sounded great.”
Bolen said Riley’s doctor expects Riley to remain hospitalized four to five days. “I think he probably plans to attend the board meeting next Tuesday, but I don’t know whether the doctor will go along with that,” Rodriguez said.
