The trustees of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences added five new Grammy awards categories during a conference in Jamaica this week. The new pop categories: motion picture score album, motion picture song, country vocal duet and contemporary blues recording. In the classical field, the instrumental performance category has been divided into “with†and “without†orchestra. The additions bring the total Grammy categories to 73. Former record producer and songwriter Alfred Schlesinger was also elected NARAS president and chairman of the board.
