Certron Corp. Reports Quarter’s Profit of $57,000

Certron Corp., an Anaheim electronics maker and distributor, reported second-quarter profits of $57,000, more than five times the $10,000 recorded a year ago.
Sales for the period ended April 30 were $6.7 million, up 29% from the $5.2 million recorded last year.
For the first six months of the year, profits were $182,000, up 38% from the $132,000 reported last year. Sales were $13.7 million, up 3% from the $13.3 million posted last year.
The company said that while sales of its audio tape cassettes continued to remain soft in the quarter, its floppy disk and video cassette sales improved. In addition, the company said its contract manufacturing activity had also increased in the quarter.
