U.S. Jet Crashes in Pacific; Pilot Saved

TOKYO — A U.S. Air Force pilot was rescued from the Pacific Tuesday after his F-15 jet fighter crashed during a training mission, the U.S. military announced.
The pilot, 1st Lt. Roland Smith of Cooperstown, N.D., was reported in good condition by medical personnel aboard a rescue helicopter.
