Cruz in the Cross Hairs

Cruz’s assertion that the contras are failing because of their bad public relations is truthful. It is hard to maintain good public relations when one rapes women, kills children and tortures civilians. His portrayal of Somoza’s reign as relatively peaceful as long as one did not actively oppose him is small comfort to those victims of torture, malnutrition and arbitrary repression by the National Guard. Good old middle-class Cruz never had to suffer these indignities, but a good number of Nicaraguans did.
