Arcadia : Shopping Center Approved
The City Council has approved a retail shopping center on the southeast corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue. The private development will include a 9,700-square-foot building with four stores. The corner is currently occupied by a gas station, restaurant and carpet and liquor stores. The vote was 4 to 1, with Councilman Dennis Lojeski objecting that there might be a parking problem. Peter Kinnahan, economic development director, said the city would have preferred an office building but that is not feasible because there is already a high office vacancy rate in the area.
