Auto Litter

I am amazed at how many Los Angeles motorists appear to have bought cars without ashtrays or other trash receptacles. Else why would these drivers flick their cigarette, cigar and pipe ashes and throw their butts (lighted) and other debris out of their car windows onto our highways and byways with reckless abandon? They seem to care little about the mess they make, let alone the potential hazard of a careless ember starting a fire.
With the fire season approaching, in what has been a very dry year, a bit of extra care in disposing of ashes and cigarettes would be a relief to all of us. We would also appreciate some common sense from these drivers who, I am sure, would not consider allowing others to similarly dispose of rubbish in their homes.
