A former investor in J. David & Co. pleaded guilty Monday to bringing a loaded handgun into the federal courthouse on his way to a settlement conference in the Dominelli case.
Nicholas Valentino, 39, of La Jolla appeared before U.S. District Judge William Enright, who set sentencing for June 8.
Valentino could be sentenced to five years in prison and receive a $10,000 fine.
The incident occurred Jan. 9 when Valentino’s briefcase went through an X-ray machine during a routine inspection in the courthouse foyer.
Charges of making false statements concerning the weapon to U.S. marshals will be dismissed at sentencing.
