Chatsworth-based Syncor International, which operates a chain of radioactive-drug pharmacies, reported that it has purchased a 50% interest in Pharmaceutical & Diagnostic Services, a 4-month-old Salt Lake City company in the same business.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
William Baker, founder of Pharmaceutical & Diagnostic Services and owner of the other 50% interest, will remain president and general manager. Monty Fu, Syncor chairman and chief executive, will serve as chairman of the Utah company.
Syncor also announced that it has sold its American Mobile Imaging Services unit to Mediq Inc. of Pennsauken, N. J., for an undisclosed amount. Syncor said it sold the unit, which performs radioactive diagnoses for patients, because it did not fit with core business.
American Mobile Imaging Services has 52 employees.
