Increases in profit, 53%; worldwide sales, 17%, and U.S. sales, 13%, were reported in the 1987 first quarter by Cambridge, Mass.-based Polaroid Corp. Sales from all of the firm’s main business sectors contributed favorably to results for the quarter, a spokesman said. Unit sales of both consumer cameras and film were higher than in last year’s first quarter and revenue from both the technical and industrial photographic business and the magnetics business remained strong, he added.
