The Writers Guild of America said it is considering its first complete contract offer from CBS Television since 525 news writers walked off the job at CBS and ABC on March 2. Neither side in the 6-week-old strike would outline the proposed pact, announced in a two-sentence release by CBS, but union spokesman Martin Waldman said two dozen members of the Guild negotiating committee will review the proposal in New York today before making a recommendation to rank-and-file members. “The final formalized proposal came to us Sunday, but points of clarification were ironed out Monday,” Waldman said. “We’re not characterizing anything about the proposal until we’ve had an opportunity to review it.”
