Suicide Victim Falls 19 Stories

A woman jumped to her death from a 19-story building at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street in the heart of Hollywood this morning, just as paramedics arrived to try to prevent the suicide.

The unidentified woman, thought to be between 25 and 30 years old, leaped about 9:30 a.m. from the east side of the roof of the Great American Bank building. “She just looked down and took one step and jumped,” said Luz Rodriguez, a secretary at an office tower across the street. The woman’s body was quickly covered with sheets as passers-by gathered on both sides of the streets.
