I must admit that I was shocked by the Thomas column. He referred to Jim Bakker as a minister and evangelist.
That came as quite a surprise to me! Whenever I happened to stumble onto one of his broadcasts, while absently punching the buttons on my remote control, I always found Bakker and his wife Tammy selling time shares in some real estate project or building and promoting an amusement or theme park.
Imagine my surprise, all those years I thought Jim and Tammy were the sweetest and kindest real estate developers I had ever run across. Just goes to show you, first impressions can be deceiving.
