Jim and Tammy ‘Forgiven’ by PTL

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — PTL plans to paste the word “Forgiven” across larger-than-life drawings of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker on billboards promoting Heritage USA, their Christian theme park, according to a published report Friday.

The legend will be added “as soon as we get design approval” from PTL, an unidentified source at Schloss Outdoor Advertising told the Charlotte Observer. The company rents billboards to the Fort Mill, S.C., ministry.

Bakker resigned from the ministry March 19 and turned it over to the Rev. Jerry Falwell, admitting money was paid to silence a New York woman’s allegation over a 1980 sexual encounter. Two weeks earlier, Tammy Faye Bakker disclosed she was being treated for a longtime drug dependency.
