The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra announced Tuesday that it will play in the Soviet Union this spring, marking the first time in 11 years that an American orchestra will have appeared before Soviet audiences. Conducted by its music director, David Zinman, the orchestra will spend a week in May in Moscow and Leningrad, giving a total of four performances featuring works by Beethoven, Schumann, Dvorak, Copland and the orchestra’s composer-in-residence, Christopher Rouse.
