Ireland’s film censor banned “Personal Services,†a film about the exploits of Cynthia Payne, a London woman nicknamed “Madame Cyn†who was acquitted last month of controlling prostitutes. Censor Sheamus Smith gave no reason for the ban Sunday. The distributors said the film, directed by ex-Monty Pythoner Terry Jones and made with Payne’s full approval, could still be rented at video shops when released for private showing. Since 1980, Ireland has banned three other films--Ken Russell’s “Crimes of Passion†and the Monty Python comedies “Life of Brian†and “The Meaning of Life,†both of which were also directed by Jones.
