Darnyi, Podkoscielny Win Third Swim Events

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Tamas Darnyi and Marius Podkoscielny each won their third event of the week in the U.S. Swimming Short Course National Championships Friday night.
Darnyi, a member of the Hungarian Central Sports Team, took the 200 individual medley by three body lengths over Ron Karnaugh. Darnyi’s winning time of 1:46.06 broke Steve Lundquist’s meet record set in 1983.
Podkoscielny, a member of the Polish national team training with the Mission Viejo Swim Club in California, took the 500 freestyle in 4:16.60.
