A Taiwan gang member pleaded not guilty in South San Francisco Municipal Court to murdering journalist Henry Liu at Liu’s Daly City home in 1984. Tung Kei-sen, 34, of the United Bamboo Gang, testified during a federal drug case in New York last year that he and another gunman killed Liu, who had been critical of the Taiwanese government and President Chiang Chin-kuo, on “an order by my government. . . .” Two other United Bamboo Gang members were convicted of Liu’s murder by a Taipei court in 1985 and sentenced to life in prison.
