A spokeswoman for Sea World in San Diego said three more animals transferred there from the now defunct Marineland aquatic park have died, bringing the total number of such deaths to five. Jackie Hill, director of public relations for Sea World, said two harbor seals transferred from Rancho Palos Verdes to San Diego on Feb. 19 died the next day, and “an older sea lion†moved on Feb. 17 died last week. Members of Ranchos Palos Verdes-based “Save Marineland and Its Animals Inc.†criticized Sea World officials for allegedly withholding news of the deaths from the public, but Hill said “it’s not our practice†to issue public statements after animals’ deaths.
