Man Who Hijacked Bus Shoots Himself to Death

An unidentified man shot and killed himself playing Russian roulette after he hijacked a commuter shuttle bus at Burbank Airport and kidnaped the driver, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The man boarded a van occupied only by the driver, Kenneth Page, 55, of Glendale, at Hollywood Way and Thorton Avenue about 11 p.m. Monday, Deputy Drew Basey said.
He pulled a .22-caliber handgun from his clothing and ordered Page to drive around the city for four hours before reaching the top of Mount Wilson Skyline Park near Angeles Crest Highway in La Canada Flintridge, Basey said Tuesday.
Page said the gunman fired several rounds out the window of the van, reloaded the handgun, put it to his head and “played Russian roulette” until the fatal shot.
“When I begged the man not to kill himself, he said something about killing me,” Page said. “Shortly after I replied that I wasn’t afraid to die he pulled the trigger.”
