New Zealand was shaken by its second earthquake in a week, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage, officials said. The epicenter of the tremor, which registered 5.2 on the Richter scale, was located 50 miles north of Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island’s eastern coast, seismologists said. Residents reported bricks falling from buildings in downtown Christchurch. A major earthquake March 2, measuring 6.5, rocked the North Island, toppling homes and buildings, twisting bridges, buckling railroad tracks and injuring at least 25 people.
