50 Arrested in Hooker Sweep

Los Angeles vice squad officers arrested 47 men and three women for prostitution-related offenses along Sunset Boulevard in an 11-hour sweep overnight, police said today. Forty of the men arrested allegedly solicited sex from women plainclothes officers on the street, said Lt. Rich Wemmer of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division.
The three women and seven other men--some dressed as women--were arrested for allegedly offering sexual services for money, Wemmer said. Police also arrested nine other men for narcotics and other offenses.
