Gary Mucho, National Transportation Safety Board field office chief in Los Angeles, confirmed Wednesday that a Continental Airlines Boeing 727 definitely clipped the tail of a twin-engine Lompoc Aviation Cessna 341 that was taxiing across the runway as the jetliner took off from Los Angeles International Airport last week.
No one was injured in the accident. The Continental jet carried 84 passengers and a crew of seven. Pilot David Jadurnath was alone in the Lompoc Aviation air taxi. The propeller-driven Cessna sustained damage to its vertical stabilizer. The jet was not damaged.
Mucho said the pilots of both aircraft were following the instructions of Federal Aviation Adminstration air traffic controllers at the time of the accident.
