A man killed Tuesday when the car he was driving spun out of control near Agoura Hills has been identified as Leo S. Brumnett, 18, of Agoura Hills, authorities said Wednesday.
Brumnett was driving his mother’s car at about 100 m.p.h. on Kanan Road at 6:45 p.m. when he lost control at a curve and struck a power pole, a fire hydrant, a second power pole and a wall near Castle View Drive, the California Highway Patrol said.
A passenger, Samuel Hanna, 18, was ejected from the car when it hit the wall, Officer Monty Keifer said. Hanna was in critical condition with internal injuries Wednesday at Westlake Community Hospital, where another passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was treated after the accident and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Brumnett was pronounced dead at the scene, Keifer said.
The three were returning to Agoura Hills from a gathering of youths in the Triunfo Canyon area, CHP Sgt. Albert Lorenzen said. Tests are being conduced to determine if Brumnett had been drinking, Lorenzen said.
