Authorities were searching for an 87-year-old Tustin man who was reported missing from his home Tuesday morning.
Louis Vassalotti, who lives with relatives near Arroyo Avenue and Hyde Park Drive in North Tustin, apparently wandered away from home at 10 a.m.
Sheriff’s Lt. Harold Schaffroth said a search began for Vassalotti after relatives notified authorities at 2:30 p.m.
Schaffroth said the man, who sometimes experiences memory lapses, has walked away from home in the past. Family members told the Sheriff’s Department that they found him about four miles from home the last time he wandered off.
Vassalotti is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs 145 pounds and has brown plastic-framed glasses. He has gray hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue zippered vest, a brown plaid shirt and a blue baseball cap.
Schaffroth said there was no reason to suspect foul play in the man’s disappearance.
