Teachers in the Compton and Inglewood school districts stayed out of classrooms in a continuation of their salary disputes with their respective school boards. For the Compton teachers, it was the 15th day of the intermittent strike that began in November. Schools have remained open, but pupil absentee rates have averaged more than 60% on strike days. In Inglewood, about 81% of the district’s teachers stayed out of their classrooms, down from 93% who participated in a two-day walkout Feb. 11 and 12. The pupil absentee rate was about 55%, the district said. Both districts are expected to be back to normal today.
