A man whose three pit bull terriers killed a 4-year-old boy who was trying to cross the man’s lawn was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Decatur, Ga. Superior Court Judge James Weeks sentenced Hayward Turnipseed, 25, to the maximum 10-year prison sentence, with five years suspended in favor of probation. “This child met the most horrible death imaginable. It’s difficult to get it out of mind,†Weeks said of the mauling death of Billy Ray Gordon Jr.
