Oxnard’s St. John’s Medical Center to Be Built at New Site
OXNARD — A new $70-million medical center is to be built here by the board of St. John’s Regional Medical Center on 48 acres purchased from the John F. and Elizabeth E. McGrath Charitable Remainder Trust for an undisclosed price.
The site, at the southeast corner of Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road, two miles from the existing facility, is valued at almost $6 million.
Daniel Herlinger, St. John’s president, said hospital officials have plans to begin building in early 1988, with completion set for 18 months later. The Dallas-based architectural firm of Harwood K. Smith & Partners will design the new buildings, which will contain 238 beds.
