Joseph J. Sojka, pictured, has been named president, chief executive officer of Daum/Johnstown American, a Los Angeles-based commercial and industrial real estate firm that is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Johnstown American Cos. Sojka succeeds Barry Smooke, who becomes vice chairman of the board of directors. Sojka has been with the company since 1977.

George W. Fenimore has been appointed executive vice president of Held/Jones, Beverly Hills, a partnership between Held Properties and Jones Brothers. Fenimore was formerly with Litton Industries, and continues as a management consultant to the firm. Held/Jones is developing a $162-million Ambulatory Care Complex on the UCLA campus. The complex includes a private medical office building that the partnership will own and operate under a 55-year ground lease.

Betty Castleman, owner and president of Castleman Interiors Inc., La Crescenta, has been given the Medalist Award, the highest honor bestowed on a chapter member of the American Society of Interior Designers. She was cited for her efforts on behalf of the Pasadena chapter. She has served two terms as chapter president and has been a member of the society’s national House of Delegates.

Jess Johannsen of Highland Soils Engineering Inc. and Highland Testing Laboratory Inc., San Bernardino units of Irvine Consulting Group Inc., was awarded the 1986 Achievement Award from the Baldy View chapter of the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California. He has also been named Associate of the Year by the association’s Riverside chapter.

Thomas F. Hart has joined Metropolitan Structures Inc., Chicago, to aid in the leasing of the firm’s One California Plaza development in downtown Los Angeles. He was formerly with the Los Angeles office of Grubb & Ellis.

Jimmie Nord, supervisor of construction and planning for Bakersfield’s Mercy Hospital, has been installed as director for Region 12 of the National Assn. of Women in Construction. She is responsible for 20 chapters of the group.

Robert W. Duff of First American Title Insurance Co., Santa Ana, has been been named the first associate member (not a builder) of the National Assn. of Home Builders to the group’s board of directors.

Roger A. Klein has been named director of interior design at Rothenberg Sawasy Architects, Los Angeles. Tricia Reed, has been named director of marketing, Susan Foster Fernandez and Barbara Hoffmann have been named senior interior project managers. Mikio Kimoto has been promoted to director of architecture.

Judith N. Frank, founder and managing principal of Asset Strategies, West Los Angeles management consulting firm specializing in real estate, has been appointed to the Private Industry Council by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Three senior architects at Gin Wong Associates, Los Angeles, have been named to the firm’s management council. They are Edoardo Leoncavallo, Thomas L. Sutton Jr., and I. Kurt Weber.

William V. Watts, former president of C.A. Larson Investment Co., Beverly Hills, has been named president of the recently formed Beverly Hills Securities Commercial Co. The new firm is a unit of Beverly Hills Securities Co.

A. Riddick Semple has been named vice president of operations in the Culver City office of ISD Inc., an interior architecture firm with offices in Chicago, Houston and New York City.

Howard M. Milner has been named president and chief executive officer of Lyons International Inc. and Lyons Realty & Development Co., West Hollywood-based developer of an $850-million mixed-use theme development on 2,000 acres in Scottsdale, Ariz.

George H. Coffin III, of Geo. H. Coffin & Sons, Newport Beach, has been reappointed chairman of the strategic planning committee of the American Society of Real Estate Counselors.

Joe Milazzo has joined Frankling Engineering, San Diego, as engineering manager. He is a registered civil engineer in five states.

Patrick Villemez has joined Pacific Shelter Co., San Diego, as corporate controller. He was formerly controller for a Houston firm.

Richard D. Rollnick has joined T & S Development Inc., Riverside, as president of T & S Realty Investments. He was formerly at the Sammis Co., Irvine, where he headed the investment acquisitions department.

Carol Hoff has joined the Hanes Co., Woodland Hills, as director its escrow division. Gail L. Schultz, director of the firm’s property management division, has received her Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. Michael R. Baron has joined the firm as regional manager of the firm’s Inland Empire office in Riverside.

Alex J. Rose has been promoted to branch manager of the Beverly Hills branch of Ticor Title Insurance Co., Los Angeles. His territory includes the Westside and the San Fernando Valley.

Ken Screeton has been promoted to vice president for off-site development at McMillan Construction, San Diego.
