Representatives from McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Co. presented the parents of Laura Bradbury, who has been missing for two years, with a check for $16,000 Friday to help them continue efforts to find the Huntington Beach girl and other missing children.
Virginia Winters, Laura’s grandmother and a volunteer at the storefront center that was set up to find the missing girl, said the money would be used to continue sending flyers with Laura’s picture to schools across the country. Some of the money will also be used to include photos and information about six to eight missing children and for other expenses, Winters said.
Laura was 3 when she disappeared near her family’s Indian Cove campsite at the Joshua Tree National Monument on Oct. 18, 1984. Police believe that she was abducted and have found few leads to work with since her disappearance.
Vicky Sillett, a representative for Huntington Beach-based McDonnell Douglas, said the money raised for the Laura Center came from cookbooks featuring recipes of employees and their spouses that have been selling.
