Former Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-Ariz.) has been elected to the board of directors of National Education Corp., a major industrial and technical training program operator in Irvine.
Goldwater was recruited to the position by board member David Jones, a former chairman of the Pentagon’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, a company spokesman said. Goldwater’s election increases the board’s size to 11 members.
The 78-year-old Goldwater, who was the GOP presidential nominee in 1964, retired to his native Arizona late last year. He was first elected to the Senate in 1952.
