American cable television viewers will get their first look next week at typical live Soviet TV programming, ranging from prime-time news to aerobics and music videos, officials of the 14-million-subscriber Discovery channel said Wednesday. The eight-day presentation, “Live: Inside Russia,” starts Sunday and is timed to coincide with ABC’s controversial “Amerika” miniseries. The broadcast will include 66 hours of state-controlled shows aired at the same time they are televised to 280 million viewers in the Soviet Union. Because the transmissions are live, evening programming will appear in the morning and morning shows will be seen at night. Discovery appears on about 1,500 cable systems nationwide.
