The Nation : Racial Charges Reported
Twelve youths have been indicted in New York in connection with the Howard Beach racial attack that led to the death of a black man, it was reported. A Queens grand jury handed up the indictments Friday but their contents were sealed pending arraignment today in Queens Supreme Court, according to the New York Times and WNBC-TV. The newspaper reported that an unidentified official said the indictments “ran the whole gamut†of charges, including murder, but that not all 12 youths were indicted on the same charges. WNBC-TV said the indictments included three murder charges.
