A San Pedro man who allegedly bilked illegal Mexican immigrants seeking to obtain legal resident status out of more than $100,000 has been arrested. Detectives said Nicholas Meza, 48, may have been a contact within the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the INS is now investigating that possibility. Meza got from $1,000 to $5,000 from each immigrant hoping to receive a green card, police said.
