Orange County Community College Basketball : Golden West Women Defeat Pasadena, 57-53
Forward April Marion scored 18 points and guard Jeannine Battaglia added 12 Friday night to lead the No. 2-ranked Golden West College women’s basketball team to a 57-53 South Conference victory over Pasadena City at Golden West.
The Rustlers improved their league record to 10-0 and overall record to 27-1. The Lancers are 5-5 and 13-9.
Golden West rallied from a 44-40 deficit with 12:15 left by outscoring Pasadena City, 12-2.
Forward Susan Sanderson led Pasadena City with 14.
Fullerton 74, Compton 58--The Hornets (6-3, 17-9) were led by Rochell Seabrook, who had 31 points. Rachel Hurlburt had 12 and Stacy Rooney had 10.
In the Orange Empire Conference:
Orange Coast 74, Cypress 71--Lisa Schumaker scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half to lead the Pirates to the upset victory at Cypress.
Cypress (5-1, 16-8), which is ranked No. 9 in the state, led at the half, 44-25. But the Pirates (3-3, 13-14), who also got 17 points from Nancy Lux, mounted a furious comeback.
The Chargers were led by Pam Fritsch, who had 22 points and 9 rebounds, and Venetta Gorlis, who had 13 points.
